West Platte 20-year Reunion . The West Platte Class of 1988 will host its 20-year reunion June 21 in Weston. Basketball Camps. The Platte County fourth and fifth grade girls basketball camp will be from 3-4:30 p.m. May 21-23 in the north gym at Platte County High School . The cost is $35 and all campers will receive a T-shirt. The seventh and eighth grade girls basketball camp will be from 9-11 a.m. June 16-18 in the north gym at Platte County High School . The cost is $35 and all campers will receive a T-shirt. The high school girls basketball camp will be from 12:30-2:30 p.m. June 16-19 in the north gym at Platte County High School .

Pantry Drive. Hillcrest Traditional Housing is currently holding a “birthday closet” drive for May. Toys, books and fun items that parents can give their children as birthday gifts are needed. Circus. The Platte City Lions Club is sponsoring the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus May 7 in front of the Northland Career Center on Branch Street . The circus will have a big top raising event at 10 a.m., followed by an exotic animal show. Show times are 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The advance ticket cost is $8 for adults and $6 for children. Park Hill BOE Meeting. The Board of Education for the Park Hill School District will meet for a work session at 7 p.m. May 8 at the Education Center at 7703 NW Barry Road .

Spring Concert. The Platte County High School instrumental music department will present its annual spring concert at 7 p.m. May 8 in the Wilson Center for the Performing Arts in Platte City . The concert, entitled Passports and Pastimes, will be the final performance for 22 graduating seniors.

A.A.R.P. Meeting. The Platte County A.A.R.P. chapter 1390 meeting will meet at noon May 13 at Platte Woods Methodist Church in Kansas City . There will be a catered lunch at a cost of $7. All persons 50 and older are welcome. A program will be presented by Andy Bryan, who sings and plays the piano. Reservations are needed by May 10 and can be made by calling 587-0124.

PCRSD Ribbon Cutting. The Platte County Regional Sewer District will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:15 p.m. May 14 at the newly expanded Brush Creek treatment facility.

R-3 Retirement Reception and Employee Recognition. The Platte County R-3 School District will host a retirement reception and employee recognition event with a reception from 4-6 p.m. and special presentations at 5 p.m. May 15 in the high school foyer and Wilson Center for the Performing Arts. Hors d’oeuvres will be served and presentations made to recognize Terry Hart, Lori Hall, Jessie Hart, Donna Hulett, Judy Longworth, Chip Sherman, Nancy Cullen, Joanne Hamilton, Dennis Hendren, Dan Jeffrey, Marty Pope and Susan Shier.

Middle School Dance. The Northland Stars dance/acro team will sponsor a dance for middle school students from 7-10 p.m. May 16 at the Platte City Civic Center . Admission is $5 and concessions will be available. For more info, call 858-5297.

Dearborn Cleanup. There will be a citywide cleanup in Dearborn from 8-12:30 p.m. May 17. No tires or paint will be accepted, but batteries are okay.

Missouri Mudslingers. The Missouri Mudslingers will hold a mudathon at 12:30 p.m. May 17 at the Dearborn Foxhunt Grounds. Registration is from 10 a.m. to noon and the cost for drivers is $20 per class. General admission is $10 for adults and children 10 and under get in free with an adult. Hillcrest Walk for Homeless. Hillcrest Ministries of Platte County will host its annual 5k walk for the homeless May 17 at the Zona Rosa Town Square . Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the walk beginning at 9 a.m. Participants can also register online at hillcrestministries.org.

PCR-3 R.O.C.K. Celebration. The second annual Pirates R.O.C.K. celebration will be held May 17 at Pirates Stadium in Platte City . Following is the tentative schedule: 3 p.m. — set-up for booths, etc; 5 p.m. — stadium opens and food will begin being served; 5:30-6 p.m. — program including student recognition and unveiling of the new Pirates R.O.C.K. mascot; 6-8 p.m. — games, booths, food, music and more. Danley Field Dedication. The Platte County Parks and Recreation Department will dedicate the premier baseball field at Platte Ridge Park north of Platte City with a special first pitch ceremony at 11 a.m. May 17. The Platte County Commission officially dedicated the Bryan J. Danley Championship Field Jan. 24 and the ceremony will mark the beginning of the 2008 baseball and softball season at Platte Ridge Park . Danley was a longtime Northland community and youth sports coach who passed away suddenly in 2003. All citizens are invited to attend.

Equipping Caregivers Meeting. Rotary Club Golf Tournament. The KCI Rotary Club will hold its annual scholarship golf tournament June 2 at the National II Golf Club.
