PLATTE CITY — The West Platte and North Platte cross country teams produced great results in the 2025 Class 2 District 4 meet on Nov. 1 at Platte Ridge Park.
West Platte qualified both teams for the Class 2 State Championships, with the boys winning the district championship for the 21st time in 26 years and the girls team advancing as the district runner-up. The Blue Jays pieced together strong runs from the entire team to reserve spots in the state championships the following week in Columbia.
North Platte looked to some elite runs from the senior trio of Drake Keraus, Chloe Heckman and Will Schaffart for some impressive displays. Keraus finished second overall, in front of fifth-place Schaffart to lead the Panthers to a district runner-up finish and seal the Panthers’ return to the state tournament while Heckman shined for the girls team with a third-place individual finish.
