Construction is reshaping portions of both high school campuses in the Park Hill School District as projects funded through the GO Park Hill initiative continue to take shape.
The facility improvements are part of Proposition O, which voters approved in April 2025. The proposition was designed to “maintain the community’s investment in our facilities and bring them up-to-date,” according to the district. It increased the district’s debt service levy by 30 cents and included an estimated $113 million for the first two project bundles districtwide.
Newkirk Construction is overseeing the projects, which include major renovations and additions at both high schools.
Park Hill
The most significant project is the replacement of Park Hill High School.
The first phase of the project is underway and will continue through August 2028, with construction beginning on a portion of the new school building. The project required the demolition of the existing baseball field, which has been completed to eventually make way for a new school entrance, academic wing, media center and commons.
The school’s football stadium is also receiving upgrades. A new fieldhouse is being constructed on the east side of the stadium and will provide on-site locker rooms for teams and officials.
Meanwhile, work continues on Park Hill’s new baseball field, which will be located west of Preston Field. The field remains on schedule to open next spring.
With the dirt now in place, crews are grading the ground surface and surrounding parking lot while making additional adjustments to accommodate the return of students for the upcoming school year.
Park Hill South
Construction is also progressing on Park Hill South’s sports complex, with the projects expected to be completed by the end of November.
The centerpiece is the completion of the football stadium, which will be named Panther Field.
Crews are drilling into the ground to prepare stable foundations for the home-side bleachers and press box. Although a late-season home game remains unlikely, there is still a possibility the Panthers could play at their new stadium before the end of the football season.
Additional parking is also being constructed on the campus, although the work has presented some challenges between the design and permit phases.
The softball field has already installed new turf, a scoreboard, fencing and upgraded dugouts. The Panthers are scheduled to open their home schedule Aug. 31 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Similar improvements are now underway at the baseball field, with improvements to the playing surface and surrounding facilities.

Proposition O also includes renovations for high school programming, districtwide security improvements, capital projects and the purchase of land for future district needs.
The next construction projects are scheduled to begin in February 2027. Those projects include approximately $15 million in additions at Chinn Elementary, Line Creek Elementary and Southeast Elementary.
The elementary projects are expected to take approximately 18 months to complete, continuing the district’s ongoing effort to update and expand its facilities.
