After 26 years in the U.S. House of Representatives, Sam Graves has announced this term representing District 6 will be his last.
Graves made the decision public on Friday, March 27.
“After considerable reflection, 2026 will be my final year in Congress,” Graves said, via Facebook. “This wasn’t an easy decision, but it’s the right one. I believe in making room for the next generation. It’s time to pass the torch and allow a new guard of conservative leaders to step forward and chart a path forward for Missourians.”
On Monday, March 30, Kansas City Councilman Nathan Willett, who represents Platte County, filed for the August Republican primary, joining fellow Republican candidates Jim Ingram and Chris Stigall. Democratic candidates in the race are Josh Smead, Scot Pondelick and Matt Levine.
