Independence Day events make come back in Platte City, Weston, Parkville

Independence Day festivities will be held in several Platte County communities this weekend, with a few highlighted here:

Platte City

Activities will be held downtown from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a shuttle running from Platte County High School to Main Street. Bounce house, inflatable obstacle course, balloon art, face painting, food trucks and more. The fireworks display at the Platte County R-3 School District campus will begin at 10 p.m.

Parkville

Parkville’s celebration kicks off with a pancake breakfast from 8-11 a.m. at the American Legion. The parade begins at 10 a.m. at Northwest 63rd Street and Highway 9. The parade will end in downtown Parkville. The Navy Band Brass Quintet will perform at 7:30 p.m. followed by the Falcon Skydivers at 8:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin around 9:30 p.m.

Weston

Weston’s event will begin at 4 p.m. with an ice cream social on Main Street hosted by the Rotary Club. The Navy Band will perform and a street dance will begin at 6 p.m. The fireworks display will begin around 9 p.m. and be visible from Main Street.
