The Platte County Health Department is moving both its Parkville and Platte City locations to the KCI area.

Their new address puts them at a unified facility located on Northwest 110th Street. This allows them to combine services and staff under one roof, as well as have a central location. This will allow easier access to the services and programs the department offers.

The new location also opens up new opportunities.

“With the renovation of the building on 110th, we are adding a garage that will allow for drive-thru vaccinations,” said Aaron Smullin, Platte County Health Department information officer.

Right now, the drive-thru clinics are held each year with two different events.

This year there will be a drive-thru vaccine event at the Platte City Middle School Oct. 10 and an extended clinic at their Parkville office on Oct. 14.

This will be a big change, as the health department had been stationed in Platte City since 1953.

As of right now, the move is projected to occur in April 2023, and operations will still resume at both branches until then.

Both buildings are now up for sale.
