Park Hill senior golfer Ruby Bell with her state medal at the 2025 MSHSAA Class 4 State Championships in Sedalia on Oct. 21.
After 36 holes across two days on the course, Bell earned an all-state medal for the first time in her career after placing 10th of 92 state qualifiers. As a No. 2 seed, Bell dealt with troubling wind gusts to overcome challenges in round two to finish the tournament 10-over in 156 shots.
Makenna Kincheloe finished her remarkable career with her fourth top-24 finish in the Class 4 State Tournament.
In last year’s state championship at Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau, Bell finished 40th as a junior while Makenna Kincheloe earned a medal in 14th place. This year, Kincheloe missed out on all-state honors in Sedalia after finishing 24th overall.
Bell and Kincheloe both returned to the championship stage one final time and began the tournament with promising rounds on the first day in 76 shots, as Bell scored four birdies and Kincheloe two for the pair to sit deadlocked in the top five. The second day proved troublesome as both fell down the leaderboard, though four birdies for Bell gave more grace to her 80 score in round two despite missing par eight times while Kincheloe was unable to match the same output, scoring an 86 on the day.
Park Hill South also had a pair qualify for the state tournament, though they were unable to play their best golf of the season. Junior Tyler Murphy and senior Kate Yager made their first state appearance, concluding the season with a pair of challenging rounds.
Murphy finished the best of the two as a No. 1 seed, ending 30-over in 196 shots to place 85th.
Yager shot 36-over in 200 shots as a No. 5 seed to finish her high school career 89th in the state.
Glendale’s Page Bowman, who began the tournament as a No. 1 seed, won the state championship as she ended even in 141 shots. Raymore-Peculiar won the team championship, shooting 649 as a team.
