Calvillo announces primary run for clerk

Mary Calvillo last week announced her candidacy for Platte County Clerk in the Republican primary election on Aug. 4.

She has over 45 years of experience in office management, executive assistance, supervision and customer service, bringing essential skills necessary to run a smooth office focused on tax payer needs.

In recent months, several county elected officials — including the current clerk — approved a 30% increase in base salaries for themselves for the next term. This decision stood in contrast to a 2.5% adjustment for county employees.

“It’s time to unseat people who put excessive burdens on taxpayers. It’s time for accountability” Calvillo said. “I am running because Platte County deserves better stewardship of public resources. I am committed to serving with integrity, enhancing office efficiency, maintaining fiscal responsibility, and being accessible to working families.”

Calvillo said “The Homestead Tax Credit Act on the April 7, 2026 ballot is a measure I fully support for all Platte County homeowners. I pledge to expedite any clerk responsibilities associated with that act, in a timely and efficient manner.”

As county clerk, Calvillo said she will focus on streamlining operations, ensuring accountability, and putting the needs of Platte Countians first.

“The clerk’s office will be open until 5 p.m. under my leadership!” Calvillo said.

“I respectfully ask for the support of Republican voters in the primary on August 4, 2026, as the stand out candidate.” she added. “Together, we can restore accountable and effective leadership to our community.”

In the release announcing her run, Calvillo describes herself as a dedicated resident of Platte County with a strong commitment to public service and conservative values. She looks forward to engaging with voters across the county in the coming months.
