Doll leads postseason baseball honors

Platte County’s first-ever two-time baseball state champion Dayton Doll isn’t just going out with another state championship ring; he is also going out after a record-breaking senior season.

The 5-foot-10 shortstop was named Greater Suburban White Conference Player of the Year, batting over .450 this season and setting a new school record in career hits before heading off to play collegiate baseball at Missouri Western State University next spring.

Platte County had an abundance of all-conference first-team honors, including Doll, pitcher and first baseman Brooks Hall, third baseman and pitcher Brennan McLaughlin, catcher Ian Gold, outfielder Rocco Marriott, and second baseman Taylor Stambersky. In addition, the Pirates had pitcher Evan Magnuson named all-conference second-team while second baseman Liam Blacklock and utility player Andrew Edsall named all-conference honorable mention.

West Platte also had a district championship and a deep postseason run, headlined by pitcher Jaxon Turner (conference first team; district first team), catcher Jhett Chandler (conference first team; district first team), outfielder and pitcher Blaze Masoner (conference first team; district first team) and shortstop Kane Cogan (conference first team; district first team). The Blue Jays also had infielder Jaxon Davis earn all-district second-team while Matthew Cook earned all-conference honorable mention.

Park Hill had its run conclude in the district semifinals but had some individuals take home some honors, including pitcher and utility player Caelin Bradford (conference first team) and shortstop Tyson Kiser (conference first team). The Trojans also had infielder Bryson Augustyn, pitcher and utility player Logan Conley, pitcher Spencer Beltram, Hayes Pratt, infielder Lex Young and outfielder Logan Hampton earn all-conference second-team while catcher Jaxon Miller was an all-conference honorable mention.

North Platte was rebuilding but still had some great talent that received honors for their efforts, which ended in the district semifinals. Hunter Palmer and Ben Jaycox each earned all-district first-team while Kaysen Iske and Lane Richardson were all-district second-team selections. Palmer also earned an all-conference first team while Jaycox was named conference honorable mention.

Park Hill South set a new program wins record before falling in the opening round of districts this year. The following six were named all-conference first team: catcher TJ Parker, infielder Trent Lewallen, outfielder Hayden Vizcarra, outfielder Drew Graerbener, utility player Carson Bjorn and pitcher Quinton Chindamo. The trio of infielder Casen Lett, utility player Jackson McDonald and pitcher Hagen McMahon were all-conference second-team selections while pitcher Will Schau and outfielder Angel Collazo Sanchez were named all-conference honorable mention.
