The Platte County boys golf team is one of just six still standing in Class 4 after an impressive performance at the district tournament on May 7.
The Pirates finished third as a team at districts but qualified five individual golfers for state, securing a full team bid to the state championships.
Coming off a second-place finish in the Suburban White Conference Tournament at Hoot’s Hollow on May 6, where Brayden Renno and Braden Hendee placed second and third, respectively, Platte County delivered a strong follow-up at Paradise Pointe.
Hendee led the way in districts with a seventh-place finish, followed by Renno in ninth. Freshman Kaplan Curtis placed 15th, while seniors Joshua Gentilia and Josh Knickman tied for 19th to round out the Pirates’ state-qualifying lineup.
In the Suburban Red Conference, Park Hill claimed the team title after firing a 311 on May 5 in Smithville, edging out rival Park Hill South. Park Hill’s Zach Cato earned gold medalist honors as the individual champion, while Park Hill South’s Drew Kobayashi finished third.
In the district tournament on May 8 at Adams Pointe, Park Hill South placed fourth and Park Hill eighth. Park Hill South’s Clayton Wichman finished in the top 10, and the Panthers also qualified Drew Hurley, Hayden Lea, and Dominick Matthies for state.
Park Hill will send Cato and Ethan Howell to state as well.
