The Park Hill Board of Education welcomed a new member last week and heard an update on bond projects, including the reconstruction of Park Hill High School.
Alexia Norris was sworn in as a member of the Park Hill Board of Education after being appointed to fill a vacant seat during a special meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 24. She will serve until the April 7, 2026 election.
Hollis + Miller representatives presented an update on the process for the “GO bond” projects, approved by voters in April.
Proposition G
Proposition G ensures competitive pay and benefits, helping the district recruit and retain excellent teachers and staff.
Proposition G asked for approval of a 10-cent increase in the operating tax rate to support teacher and staff salaries and benefits.
Proposition O
Proposition O allows the district to maintain the community’s investment in facilities and bring them up-to-date. This includes:
Phase 1 Replacement of Park Hill High School, including baseball field relocation and stadium improvements
Field and stadium improvements at Park Hill South High School
Additions to Chinn, Line Creek and Southeast Elementary
Renovated space for high school programming
District-wide facility security updates
Land purchase for future facility needs
Other capital improvements PreK-12 as economic conditions permit
Proposition O asked for approval to increase the debt service levy 30 cents to issue general obligation bonds in the amount of $128 million for the Phase 1 replacement of Park Hill High School, stadium and field improvements at Park Hill South High School, additions to various elementary schools, safety upgrades and the purchase of land.
Community engagement nights on the bond projects will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13 at Park Hill South High School in the atrium by the new gym; and 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Park Hill High School, in the cafeteria.
