Platte City police say they have a suspect in business burglaries

Platte City police say they’re closing in on a suspect in the five business burglaries that occurred in Platte City last month.

Last week, Platte City Chief of Police Jeff Wilson released a statement.

“We are pursuing strong investigative leads and a case has been submitted to the proper authorities for review and charge consideration,” Wilson said. “Due to the sensitivity of the case, that’s all the information that can be shared at this time.”

Pizza Shoppe, Fetterman’s, Sonic, Roxanne’s and Dollar General were all burglarized Saturday, April 26 or early Sunday, April 27.

All had windows broken to make entry into the business, creating large messes for property owners to clean up. There were only small monetary losses from registers left with start up cash, with police noting the largest loss for businesses will be due to the property damage and not the money taken from registers.

Police are currently going through surveillance video and physical evidence for clues as to the identity of the burglars. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
