Platte County Clerk Jera Pruitt announced her reelection campaign, citing a proven record of transparency, efficiency, and commitment to solving complex tax issues.
Since taking office, Clerk Pruitt has delivered measurable results for residents. Pruitt has implemented the Senior Tax Credit Program, increased the public’s access to government documents, and streamlined access to the Board of Equalization.
Pruitt said, “Serving as County Clerk has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Experience matters — especially in times of complexity. In 2025, Platte County faced the most challenging tax year in its history. Despite unprecedented complications, my office delivered accurate valuations and tax information.”
Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd has endorsed Pruitt’s campaign.
“Jera Pruitt has set a new standard for integrity and innovation in public service,” Zahnd said. “She’s made government more transparent and accessible, and I’m proud to endorse her re election.”
As County Clerk, Pruitt has worked to modernize operations, strengthen communication with the public, and find cost effective ways to enhance service delivery. She said her focus for the next term will include maintaining easy access for citizens when appealing property tax values and continuing efforts to bring tax relief to citizens.
Pruitt said, “Over the past four years, I’ve made the Clerk’s office more open, accessible, and responsive to the people it serves-and there’s still more work to do. I’m running for re-election to continue making government work better for everyone in Platte County.”
Retired Platte County Clerk, Nancy Armstrong has also endorsed Pruitt’s re-election campaign.
“Jera Pruitt has built upon the foundation we established, she’s taken the Clerk’s office to new heights” Armstrong said. “Her leadership has brought tax relief to seniors while standing up to the State Tax Commission, as well as giving greater access to citizens seeking to appeal property values.”
Pruitt said, “Good government starts with open government. I look forward to continuing the Senior Tax Relief Program, spearheading the implementation of tax relief afforded in the Homestead Credit Act, and be accessible to Platte County citizens. I promise to serve the people of Platte County with honesty, accountability, and dedication.”
Pruitt is seeking her second term as Platte County Clerk and previously served as Platte County Public Administrator. Pruitt is a lifelong Platte County resident and lives with her husband Lincoln, Kansas City Police Department Officer and former Platte County Sheriff’s deputy, and two children in northern Platte County.
