The 2025 Reminisce Day will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 27. This will be the eighth year that the event will be hosted in the Dearborn community. The celebration is always planned for the fourth Saturday in September.
The event will include a car show, pancake breakfast, vendors, restaurant open house, open museum and community garage sales.
Central Bank’s parking lot will be the location for the car show. Also, side-by-side and motorcycle owners are invited to display their vehicles. The bank’s ATM will remain open during the event.
A Pancake Breakfast fund raiser benefiting the North Platte football program will be from 8-10 a.m. on Main Street.
Vendors and food booths will be found along Delaware and Third streets, featuring barbecue, grilled, baked goods, and more.
Dearborn Community Betterment started the celebration in 2018, and coordinates the activities each year.
Betty Stancil will be honored at the event for her service to the community. This will include a presentation, lunch and oral history interview at the North Platte Historical Museum at 1 p.m.
Lynn Cassity promotes the event for the North Platte Historical Museum, and Stancil will be interviewed about her memories of Dearborn for the museum’s oral history projects.
“For decades Betty has been a familiar sight walking through town and picking up trash,” Cassity said. “Friends and family are asked to attend the interview.”
Mid-Continent Public Library encourages visitors to use the Tell Me A Story Pod to record their stories for the future. Recordings are digitized and returned to contributors on CDs or flash drives free of charge. The Story Pod is at the Dearborn Branch through the end of September.
“Sept. 18 was the last day of operation of the Main Street Bistro, as the new Main Street Grill and Bar opens on Sept. 24,” Cassity said. “Live music will be featured during Reminisce Day at 203 Main Street from noon to 3 p.m. for the official open house. They offer a variety of food, pool tables, game room and cocktails.
“The North Platte Historical Museum is open from 10-4 p.m. Community garage sales can be found throughout the town and vicinity. Dearborn Community Betterment offers a special gathering day for the town’s friends and visitors during Reminisce Day.”
One of Cassity’s favorite moments during the first Reminisce Day was when the first honoree, Lu Durham, who was 98 years old, led the parade from the back of a vintage truck, waving to the crowd.
Durham was a founding member and historian of the North Platte Historical Museum.
“Another favorite was the year my late father-in-law was honored for starting Cassity Bus Company in 1936,” Cassity said. “Frosty Cassity started driving kids to school in a renovated truck two years after he graduated from Dearborn High School. The bus company will celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2026.”
Reminisce Days is popular with both adults and kids. “Everyone seems to enjoy the activities in town that day,” Cassity said.
New restaurant set to open
Main Street Grill and Bar is set to open this week in Dearborn, just in time for Dearborn’s Reminisce Day Saturday.
Main Street Pizza and Bistro closed its doors for the final time last week and the Main Street Grill and Bar will open under the ownership of Michael Pfiefer at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24.
“We will be offering a lot of house made menu items as well as some bar and grill snack favorites and house made desserts,” Pfiefer said. “The main floor will feature two dining areas and the bar where you can get local tap beer and a selection of bottled beer, mixed drinks, and wine. We also have a small area where we feature handmade items from town locals for sale, such as fresh breads, jams, tea towels and vintage baking items.”
The second floor will feature a lounge and game room with two pool tables, two electronic dart boards and a few arcade games with high top tables and a “kick back” area with lounge seating.
During Dearborn’s Reminisce Day on Saturday, Sept. 27, the grill and bar will feature Kevin Cline performing on the patio from noon to 3 p.m.
“We hope to bring something different and fun to the community and look forward to hosting everyone,” Pfiefer said. “We would love to see highway travelers, surrounding town citizens and of course locals.”
