The new amphitheater under construction in Riverside now has a name, and a lineup of shows featuring familiar names such as Rod Stewart.
Last week, Live Nation, the owner/operator of the new venue, announced the theater, set to open next summer, will bear the name Morton Amphitheater, for the Morton Salt Company, which moved its corporate headquarters to the Kansas City area last year.
Ground was broken on the new venue earlier this year and once complete will feature a 16,000-seat capacity of mostly-covered seating. In comparison, Starlight Theatre in Kansas City has a capacity of 7,700 and Azura Amphitheater in Bonner Springs, Kan. holds about 18,000 fans.
Shows will start in August 2026, with the first scheduled performance on Aug. 12 with Train’s Drops of Jupiter tour. With more than 10 million albums and 30 million tracks sold worldwide, 14 songs on Billboard’s Hot 100, and 13 albums on the Billboard 200, Train is marking yet another milestone in 2026, as they celebrate 25 years of their album Drops of Jupiter.
Music legend Rod Stewart will perform in the second show at the new venue on Aug. 15 with his One Last Time Tour. Richard Marx will also perform. Other announced shows include the 5 Seconds of Summer tour and Jack Johnson.
