Two new Park Hill incidents in the headlines

The Park Hill School District was again in the headlines last week, this time for a possible criminal investigation of a staff member at the LEAD Innovation Studio and an alleged student assault at Park Hill High School.

On Wednesday, April 27, news broke that a LEAD staff member was placed on leave due to unspecified “Inappropriate behavior.”

LEAD principal Ryan Stanley issued a letter to families stating that due to allegations made to the Children’s Division, law enforcement was investigating the situation “to see whether or not there was criminal activity.”

No other information has been released due to the investigation. The district also considers it a personnel matter.

Later in the week, the Platte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call to Park Hill High School for an alleged assault.

On Thursday, April 28, an assault on a student by another student was reported.

Police responded to the scene and district officials reported the student was treated for minor injuries and a person of interested was being interviewed.

Later, the sheriff’s office reported the injuries the student received were determined to be self-inflicted. The incident has been forwarded to the Platte County Juvenile Office.

On Friday, April 29 the district released a statement to parents noting the sheriff’s office findings that no assault had occurred and the school was safe.
