Platte City restaurant ready for Cinco de Mayo

As local activities ramp up in the area, Rapidos Mexican Restaurant will host their Cinco de Mayo celebration on May 5.

The restaurant’s owners and staff are planning a festive celebration that will provide great food and entertainment for all attendees.

“Last year was such a blast, we decided to do a big party again,” Rapidos co-owner Toni Rauch said. “We have rented a huge tent for outside and have booked Outlaw Jim and the Whiskey Benders for some great live music. There should be lots of drinks and dancing.”

Rapidos’ staff are very grateful that Outlaw Jim and the Whiskey Benders saved the date for the event. “This second annual Cinco de Mayo fiesta will be the best yet,” Rauch said. “Our puffy tacos will be featured at half price all day, and they are definitely a favorite.”

She also emphasized that Cinco de Mayo really can’t be celebrated properly without tequila, so the restaurant’s house margaritas will be on special as well.

There will be a full bar and full menu for dining inside the restaurant all day on Cinco de Mayo and outside after 4 p.m. there will be quick snacks, aluminum bottles and the restaurant’s delicious margaritas. Live music will begin around 5:30/6 p.m.

“We have also rounded up a bunch of giveaways for the big day,” Rauch said. “We have beads, koozies, maracas, T-shirts and more. We feel so grateful to be able to host a party like this. It’s great to see everyone connecting with each other and enjoying themselves. And we loved hearing about how much fun everyone had last year. It’s about making memories!”

For other special events coming up, Rapidos will offer traditional catering buffet bars starting at $7.25/person as well as a la carte options. The restaurant will be catering for graduation parties and special occasions, such as birthday parties, anniversaries, weddings and showers.
