Closure of Rising Star Elementary brings end to lengthy, unique history

Rising Star Elementary in Platte City originally opened in 1954. The building will close at the end of this school year with kindergarten students being dispersed between Siegrist Elementary and Compass Elementary, which is currently under construction.
