The Platte County Sheriff’s Office donated a police vehicle to the Edgerton Police Department last week.
At the Monday, Aug. 11 meeting of the Platte County Commission, commissioners approved the donation of a 201 Ford Taurus to the Edgerton PD.
According to Sheriff Erik Holland, the silver sedan is considered to be at the end of its service life for the sheriff’s office.
“The vehicle holds little monetary value and the remaining police equipment within the vehicle cannot be used again due to the lack of Ford Taurus’ within the Sheriffs Office vehicle fleet,” Holland wrote in a letter to commissioners. “Edgerton Police Department is looking to acquire the vehicle along with some of its respective police equipment to further the patrol function of the Department. The transfer will allow for the continued benefit to the citizens of the county without additional expense.”
