21 years of Parkville Microbrew Fest

The annual Parkville Microbrew Fest, one of Kansas City’s largest beer festivals, will officially turn 21 on Saturday, April 26. And the organizers are expecting about 2,500 attendees to celebrate this popular annual event, which will offer a vast variety of beer brands, food, music and hundreds of ‘cheers.’

The event will take place from 1 – 5 p.m. at English Landing Park in historic downtown Parkville.

The first festival was in 2004, and it featured eight local breweries. The local turnout was about 200 people. Over the last two decades the number of attendees continued to climb. This week’s event will include 60 breweries and is expected to host more than 10 times the number of people than the 2004 event.

The festival is now recognized as the second largest not-for-profit festival in the state of Missouri.

The event is organized by volunteers, and it supports the Main Street Parkville Association, which is an operating division of Parkville Community Development Corporation. It’s a volunteer, membership organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Historic Downtown Parkville. It was initially formed to help with revitalization efforts in downtown Parkville after the 1993 flood. The proceeds go to events such as the Fourth of July Celebration, Parkville Days and Christmas on the River, which are all free-to-the-community festivals.

Located in the English Landing Park along the Missouri River, attendees will be able to sample some of the finest handcrafted ales from breweries and home-brew clubs across the Midwest.

Three live bands will perform and there will be six food trucks, plus beer-related merchandise.

Those attending the festival will receive a commemorative logo tasting glass. Attendees can sample any and all the beer they choose from 1-5 p.m.

Admission for designated drivers is free.

Ticket prices are $49 for advance purchases tickets and $60 at the gate, pending availability.

Admission to the event will begin at 11 a.m. so that attendees can enjoy the food and music. The sampling begins at 1 p.m.
