A Weston man is on the Platte County Sheriff’s Department Most Wanted List.
Douglas Lee Barnes, 29, is wanted on numerous charges, including felony assault of a law enforcement officer. According to Sheriff’s Dept. spokesperson Capt. Erik Holland, Barnes is accused of assaulting an officer in Weston who was responding to a disturbance call last July. Barnes was in a vehicle and being questioned by officers when he put the vehicle in reverse, hitting one officer with the rear view mirror and nearly striking another officer. He fled the scene and was not apprehended. Holland said Barnes has been at large ever since.
Holland said Barnes has also been charged with resisting arrest, third degree assault and driving while intoxicated. He is wanted on a $25,000 cash-only bond.
Holland said persons who have any information regarding Barnes’ whereabouts should contact the TIPS Hotline at 474-TIPS or the Platte County Sheriff’s Office at 858-3465. He added that citizens observing Barnes or who know his whereabouts should not confront him and should immediately contact their local law enforcement agency.
