Platte County vocal students honored

R-3, North Platte students perform in Jefferson City with honor choir

Last month, 14 students from the Platte City area performed in the Missouri Choral Directors Association State Honor Choirs held in Jefferson City. Students spent the majority of the day rehearsing with their respective choirs and then presenting a performance for friends, family and Missouri choral directors. Their performance was held in Jefferson City’s Capitol Plaza Hotel. Each student participated in an audition process that included creating an audio recording of their singing voice and then sending that recording to state level judges for selection. Once selected students were notified and then rehearsals were held to help the students prepare their music for the event. Also performing were Platte County R-3 High School student Elise Benne and North Platte High School student Page Folck. Choir director Brice Willson led the group from Platte City Middle School, pictured above, from left, Emily Wyss, Christian Grissell, Madison Hicks, Turner Hess, Dylan Read, William Hess, Ayden Hill, Kiley Hoaglin, Walker Sperl, Danielle Major, Elizabeth Daggett and Mariah Way-Abbott.
