Park Hill South places 4 on all-state soccer teams; PC's Testorff honored, too

A 6-foot-3 center back, the Panthers junior received first-team all-state honors from the Missouri High School Soccer Coaches Association for his efforts in the middle of defense. He helped Park Hill South record 18 clean sheets in 26 matches this season, including 10 in a perfect Suburban League Red Division campaign, and also scored four goals.

Hudson also won conference defender of the year honors, while junior Evan Morrow made second team all-state and collected the Red Division goalkeeper of the year honors. He allowed just 0.34 goals per game with a 22-2 record.

Dylan Kintner, a senior, made the MHSSCA all-state second team with 25 goals and two assists, while junior midfielder Carson Cavitt-Wells ended up on the honorable mention list. The league player of the year collected 12 goals and a team-high 24 assists.

The four all-staters helped Park Hill South win 17 straight after dropping the final two games in September’s KA-MO Classic. The streak included a pair of shutouts on the way to the Class 4 District 15 championship and a second playoff berth in the past three years.

Park Hill South finished with a 23-3 record after a 1-0 loss to Staley in sectionals. The Panthers were No. 7 in the final MHSSCA Class 4 poll.

Platte County did not crack the top 10 in the final Class 3 rankings despite the second playoff berth in program history this season.

Paul Testorff, a senior forward, made the Class 3 MHSSCA all-state second team after recording team-highs of 31 goals and 20 assists for the Pirates (16-10), who didn’t win more than three straight until a run of six in a row to carry them into the playoffs. The run included a pair of wins in the Class 3 District 16 tournament.

Platte County’s 2-1 comeback win against Smithville in the championship game ended a lengthy losing streak against their biggest rival. The Pirates lost 5-1 to Van Horn in a sectional matchup, ending a season that also included an 8-2 mark in Suburban League Blue Division play, good for second behind fellow Class 3 playoff entrant Belton.

Testorff also won conference player of the year honors.
