Accused murderer arrested in Parkville

A man wanted for a murder in Omaha was arrested by the Platte County SWAT Team on Wednesday, March 7, in Parkville.

A press release from the Platte County Sheriff’s Office stated that shortly after 8 a.m., a search warrant was executed in the 9000 block of NW 57th Street related to a wanted party.

Taliferro Thompson

Taliferro Thompson, 21, was taken into custody after the PCSO received information from the United States Marshals Service.

Thompson, an Omaha resident, is wanted for the killing of Ashlyn Higgins, 23, on Jan. 26, 2017. Higgins and her boyfriend, Parris Stamps, 27, were both shot in what the Omaha World-Herald reported as a drug deal gone bad.

Higgins was transported to Creighton Medical Center where she died, while Stamps survived.

Thompson is currently be held at the Platte County Detention Center awaiting extradition proceedings.

“This is another example of the great cooperative relationship between law enforcement agencies at all levels in this area,” Platte County Sheriff Mark Owen said in the press release. “A dangerous man has been removed from the streets of our community because of the work of our deputies and the United States Marshals Service.”
