Affidavit: Hinkle’s kicks caused ex-girlfriend’s collapsed lung

A Parkville man is accused of beating a ‘confidential victim’ so badly she had a collapsed lung.

Scott Jay Hinkle, 50, was bound over for trial earlier this month on a felony first-degree domestic assault charge stemming from an incident last month.

According to court documents, Platte County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call for a woman yelling for help on Dec. 11. The female involved got away and when located at a house across the street, she had a large bruise on her forehead, a laceration and a sore back after getting kicked, allegedly by Hinkle.

She was transported to St. Luke’s North and was later transported to St. Luke’s Plaza hospital with a collapsed lung.

Hinkle allegedly threw the victim to the floor and then drug her outside by the hair. He threw her out of the house, locked the doors and prevented her from entering the residence.

The victim noted that Hinkle broke up with her and an argument followed due to her dog stepping in dog feces and tracking it in the house.

Documents revealed the victim used a lawn chair to break a window and re-enter the house. Hinkle then allegedly started kicking her and grabbed her by the neck and choked her. He then grabbed her by her hair and dragged her outside for a second time.

When interviewed, Hinkle noted that he only gave her a ‘bear hug’ to calm her down. He stated he either tripped or slipped and fell to the ground on top of her, according to documents. When asked about finger bruises around her neck, he allegedly shrugged and mentioned the victim was emotionally unstable.

Hinkle entered a not guilty plea on Dec. 14 and four days later his bond modification request was denied. On Dec. 19, he posted $35,000 cash only bond. He will appear in front of Judge Quint Shafer at 9 a.m. on Jan. 31.
