JEANETTE BROWNING FAUBION/Citizen photo A vacant home undergoing renovation was the latest casualty in the spate of fires in Parkville this year. The fire was reported in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Oct. 10 at an older home located on Highway 9 at Second Street. By the time Southern Platte Fire Protection District crews arrived, the house was already engulfed in flames and soon collapsed. No one was injured in the blaze, but neighboring homes sustained substantial damage to siding and roofs. Hwy. 9 near downtown Parkville was closed for several hours while authorities investigated the scene.
