Blue Jays fly higher than Eagles in big win

The West Platte baseball team (3-3) has reached .500 after the Blue Jays scored a season-high in runs and took down Bishop LeBlond (0-4) 12-2 on March 29.

West Platte scored multiple runs in four of the six innings, starting with two runs in the first inning. In the bottom of the second inning, Ezra Stigman had an RBI single and then Gunner Smith scored on a ground out by Xavier Reynolds to give the Blue Jays a 4-0 margin.

West Platte added five more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning after LeBlond scored two runs in the top of the third inning. The West Platte juniors got the offense rolling once again when Stigman had another RBI single – this time with two teammates crossing home plate - and Reynolds had a 2-RBI double.

Reynolds eventually scored another run when Ty Lawson grounded out and West Platte led 9-2. The Blue Jays put the icing on the cake in the bottom of the sixth inning with three more runs.

Reynolds ended with two hits and four RBIs, while Stigman had three hits and three RBIs along with eight strikeouts when he was on the mound. West Platte was supposed to take on Penney (0-4) on April 1, but the game was postponed due to poor field conditions.
