Car stop unveils 204 lbs. of drugs

A pursuit Friday afternoon, Aug. 17, of a 2008 Ford E-350 turned into the Platte County Sheriff’s Office recovering 204 pounds of marijuana, with a street value of $922,000, after the vehicle was stopped and searched.

Destiny Browning, 37, of Louisville, Ky., and Paul Deliz, 41, of Mesquite, Tex, and were taken into custody.

“Thanks to the hard work of our deputies more drugs have been removed from the streets of Platte County,” Sheriff Mark Owen said in a press release. “Drugs, including marijuana, present a hazard to our citizens and we will continue our efforts to remove it from our streets.”

Brown is charged with felony delivery of a controlled substance and two misdemeanors: failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and exceeding posted speed limits by 6 to 10 miles per hour.

She has a $50,000 cash/surety bond and is currently listed as in custody at the Platte County Detention Center.

Deliz also is still in custody as of Tuesday, Aug. 21. He is facing one charge of delivery of a controlled substance.

Both appeared in court on Aug. 20 and had no guilty pleas entered. The two will return to court on Sept. 4 in front of Judge Ann Hansbrough.
