Five teenagers injured in accident

Five teenagers were injured in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 29 on Sunday, July 28.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred in the southbound lane of I-29, at mile marker 1 in Clay County at 12:06 p.m.

The report stated that a 2005 Kia driven by Ismail A. Muhidin, 18, of Kansas City, swerved to avoid another vehicle.

The vehicle left the roadway, struck a guardrail and over turned, coming to rest on the guardrail.

Of the five injured, two didn’t have seat belts on during the accident.

Bol Arjbai, 17, of Platte Woods; Raven D. Haneley, 16, of Kansas City, Mo.; Muhidin and Jay R. Palmer, 14, of North Kansas City all sustained moderate injuries. Halima A. Shekue, 17, of Kansas City, sustained minor injuries.

Neither Arjbai nor Palmer had a seat belt on.

Shekue, Muhidin and Haneley were transported to North Kansas City Hospital. Arjbai and Palmer were taken to Children’s Mercy.

PLATTE CITY MAN HIT BY CAR

A Platte City man sustained only minor injuries in a car vs. pedestrian accident on July 21 in rural Platte County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Carl J. Yeager, 33, was hit while walking in the northbound lane of Dowling Lane, north of Farley at 10:31 p.m.

Stephen T. Tanner, 27, of Platte City, was driving a 2015 Ford when he was turning from Humphrey Access Road.

Yeager was transported by ambulance to North Kansas City Hospital.
