In-a-Tub owner injured in building collision

The owner of a beloved Northland taco restaurant is recovering from an accident that occurred last week.

Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 20, a pickup truck accelerated into the side of the In-a-Tub location on Prairie View Road, demolishing a section of the wall and injuring its owner, Andrea LaMunyon. The driver of the truck was unharmed, according to police.

According to the family, LaMunyon underwent emergency surgery due to injuries to her ankle and hip and is now recovering at home. A GoFundMe has been established and has garnered nearly $6,500 as of Tuesday. The business is closed, but plans to reopen as soon as repairs can be made to the building.

In-a-Tub first opened in the Northland in 1951, offering first ice cream and tacos, burgers and other fare. The tacos, featuring a deep fried option with powdered cheese, became the main star of the show.

Several locations have been open over the years in the Northland, with the Prairie View Road location the only one in Platte County. The original location on North Oak Trafficway remains open.
