An inmate inside the Platte County Detention Center died Monday, May 22 inside the facility, according to Platte County sheriff Mark Owen.
At about 9:55 a.m., detention officers discovered a white male in his 40s dead of an apparent suicide by hanging. The identity of the man was being withheld pending family notification, but Owen said he was being held at the facility on a pair of felony charges.
Owen said the investigation continues in a joint effort between Platte County Sheriff's Office detectives and the Jackson County Coroner's Office.
