Nothing Bundt Cakes opens up in the Northland

An Overland Park, Kan., based operation has opened up Nothing Bundt Cakes in the Tiffany Springs Market Center in Kansas City, Mo.

The national chain opened earlier this year held a grand opening on Valentine’s Day under the direction of local franchisees Bev, Alex and Jim Edwards.

The trio learned about the business that started in 1997 at a family reunion and decided to buy into it. The first location was in Overland Park, Kan., and the second was in Mission, Kan.

The Kansas City location is the first of two in Missouri, with Lee’s Summit set to open in the fall.

The first three stores had a two-year span between opening. The latest opening will be the quickest opening.

“It is exciting to be part of the growth,” Alex Edwards said. “It was always our intention to get up there, to be north of the river. We love that location and it has been a good reception so far.”

Nothing Bundt Cakes offers 10 different flavors in four sizes and more than 40 decoration options for cakes baked in the store daily.

The store has 15 employees and is managed by Taryn Martinez. The hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

They are closed on Sundays.

“The thing we have noticed, the people coming in are familiar with who we are and what the product is,” Edwards said. “They are coming into the door more of a fan than a new market, so to speak we have great visibility, we have great neighbors around us and we’ve seen a lot of happy people coming in and through.”
