A Kansas City man was killed Sunday afternoon at The Denton Apartments, located off Interstate 29/NW 63rd Street in Platte County.

A shooting was reported on Feb. 24 at 1:15 p.m., at the leasing office of the luxury apartments located at 5951 NW 63rd Terrace.

Austin C. Williams, 30, died later that day from injuries sustained from multiple gunshot wounds.

The shooting is being investigated as a homicide according to Capt. Tim Hernandez, a Kansas City Police Department spokesman.

There is no description of the suspect in the shooting that happened near a popular shopping district just to the east of Parkville.

A day after the shooting, a piece of plywood was placed over a shattered window at the leasing office.

An official incident report from KCPD said ‘when they arrived they found a black male in the front of the address suffering from several gunshot wounds.’

FOX4 reported that a bystander near SPIN! Pizza heard the shots and helped clear the scene.

The television station interviewed local resident Joe Andrade, who said “We live right behind here. So it’s a great neighborhood. Very, very safe. Nothing like this ever happens around here.”

KCPD are asking people with information to call the TIPS hotline at 474-8477 or the homicide unit at 234-5043.
