Panthers end season at Class 2 district tournament

The North Platte Panthers’ volleyball team ended its season last Tuesday, Oct. 22, with a loss in the opening round to Mid-Buchanan in the Class 2, District 16 Tournament in Gower.

North Platte, the No. 6 seed, drew the No. 3 seeded Dragons in the opening round and fell in three sets: 25-3, 25-6, and 25-8.

Sophomore Rylee Perkins led the Panthers with three kills with just over 23 percent of hits converted, followed by senior Kate Richardson, who had a 22 percent hit rate and two kills. Senior Kayla Humes and senior Haylie Davis also each had a kill for North Platte. Senior Ryleigh Kidwell was the only Panther to collect an ace.

Senior Madison Willoughby led the Panthers with seven digs, then Richardson with four digs, and Kidwell with two digs. Junior Leala Day and freshman Scarlett Haughey each collected a dig. Richardson led the Panthers with four assists, while Davis, Day, and Kidwell each had an assist.
