Panthers win league title

The Park Hill South swimming team picked up another conference championship.

The Panthers dominated the field at the Suburban Conference Red Division meet held Thursday, Oct. 31 to Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Gladstone Community Center.

Park Hill South had 568 ½ points and easily beat runner-up Liberty, which had 407 points.

The title is the second in three years under current boys coach Tim Busenhart and the 17th for the program that started 22 years ago.

Park Hill South won nine events and swept all three relays.

The 200-yard medley team got it started by winning the first event in 1:39.56. That squad featured Zander Livingston, Chris Wissman, Luke Brown and Ethan Roach.

The 200 freestyle team of Nate Shaw, Brown, Livingston and Alec Enyeart won in 1:32.01.

In the final event, the 400 freestyle, the team of Derek Long, Shaw, Enyeart and Roach won in 3:19.96.

Enyeart added two individual first in the 200 freestyle (1:43.53) and 500 freestyle (4:36.59), where he won by 13 seconds.

Roach, the transfer from Boca Raton, Fla., won the 50 freestyle in 22.29, beating Brown, who was second at 23.10. In the 100 freestyle, Roach won in 47.43. Fletcher Burns won the 100 backstroke (55.13) and Livingston won the 100 breaststroke (1:012.31).

Wissmann was the runner-up in the 200 IM and Long was third in the 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle.
