Park Hill wrestling dominates dual with The Clash looming

Park Hill won the first four matches of its final dual before the holiday break, cruising to a 59-15 victory.

Lee’s Summit North gave up six opens in the Suburban Conference Gold Division dual Tuesday, Dec. 19 in Lee’s Summit, Mo. The most competitive match ended up being the opener with Park Hill freshman Grayston DiBlasi surviving thanks to a third period escape in a 6-5 decision over Jaden Duran at 145.

A forfeit plus a technical fall for senior Josh Steele at 152 and Carter Goslee’s 4-2 decision at 160 made it 17-0 Park Hill before Lee’s Summit North won a match. Simon Tesfamarian also had a pin for the Trojans — their only other head-to-head win.

Park Hill takes an 11-0 dual record into The Clash XVI in Rochester, Minn. The large regional tournament features some of the best teams in the nation, and the Trojans — ranked No. 11 according to Intermat — finished fourth a year ago in the event, even scoring a win over the eventual champion.

The Clash starts Friday, Dec. 29 and finishes Saturday, Dec. 30

Platte County hasn’t wrestled since placing 14th at Kansas City Stampede. The Pirates’ will continue the most difficult part of their schedule with a trip to The Cheesehead Invitational on Jan. 5 and 6 in Kaukauna, Wisc.
