Pirates fall in Class 4 District 12 semis

The Platte County basketball season came to an end with a 54-50 loss to Winnetonka in the Class 4 District 16 tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

Playing at the Griffins' home court, the second-seeded Pirates were tied 15-15 after the opening eight minutes. Tonka (10-17) outscored Platte County in the second and led 32-24.

That proved pivotal based on what happened in the second half. Platte County (6-18) outscored Winnetonka by four to pull within 40-36.

Each team scored 14 points in the fourth to account for the final margin.

Dylan Gilbert led the Pirates with 14 points and seven rebounds in his final game. Dylan Minshall had nine and Brady Wright added eight.
