Last week, the Kansas City 2026 FIFA World Cup committee, dubbed KC2026, announced routes for its special fan transportation shuttles, including two routes into Platte County.
The ConnectKC26 map was released Tuesday, Dec. 2 and outlines routes around the metropolitan area, as well as Lawrence, Kan. The committee says it has arranged for a fleet of more than 200 buses to shuttle fans around the city. These services will run from June 11 through July 15.
The airport direct route will run from a central hub downtown directly to Kansas City International Airport, with shuttles running every 15-20 minutes. Another shuttle will run between Boardwalk Square and the FIFA Fan Festival, which will be located at Liberty Memorial.
With parking at Arrowhead Stadium extremely limited, a stadium direct service will run from Arrowhead to the FIFA Fan Festival, Highway 40 and Stadium Drive, Independence Center, North Kansas City and Oak Park Mall.
Shuttles will also be available from the FIFA Fan Festival site to and from Independence Center, Independence Square, KC Zoo, Lawrence, Lee’s Summit, The Legends, Lenexa city center, Liberty, Mission, North Kansas City, Oak Park Mall, Overland Park Convention Center, Worlds of Fun and 3-Trails Transit Center.
The bus service will be open to both out-of-town fans visiting the city for the World Cup as well as residents.
An app is under development to help people utilize the dedicated transit services. Pricing for the service will be announced in early 2026.
