Recommendation from committee on Park Hill start times available

The three final recommendations of Park Hill’s start times advisory committee are now available online at parkhilllistens.com.

At its Monday, Sept. 23 meeting, the committee narrowed down 32 plans to three — dubbed the “blue idea,” “orange idea” and “yellow idea.” These three plans are up for public inspection and input on the Park Hill Listens site and feature various start times for schools in each category, creating a staggered or tiered bussing plan.

Current school hours are 7:30 a.m. to 2:38 p.m. for high schools; 7:35 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for middle schools; and 8:40 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for elementary schools.

In the blue plan, high schools would be in session from 7:15 a.m. to 2:23 p.m.; middle schools, either 7:30 a.m. to 2:25 p.m. or 8:23 a.m. to 3:18 p.m.; and elementary schools would range from 8:30 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. to 9:25 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

In the orange plan, high schools would run from 8:15 a.m. to 3:23 p.m.; middle schools from 7:33 a.m. to 2:28 p.m.; and elementary schools would be in session during a range of times starting with 8:33 a.m. to 3:23 p.m. to 9:28 a.m. to 4:18 p.m.

In the yellow plan, high school is 7:50 a.m. to 2:58 p.m.; middle schools would run from either 7:15 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. or 8:10 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.; and elementary schools from times ranging from 8:15 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. to 9:10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Feedback can also be given in person from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Plaza Middle School.
