South soccer suffers first loss of season in PKs

Park Hill South senior Olivia Clemons has scored the last seven goals for the Lady Panthers’ since their first loss of the season, which game in double overtime to Lee’s Summit on April 11.

PARKVILLE – Staying undefeated during the regular season is tough and the Park Hill South girls’ soccer team (13-1) had its first loss of the spring against Lee’s Summit (7-2-2) on April 11.

Having won the first 10 games of the year, it took a road atmosphere and extra time for Park Hill South to lose a game. Olivia Clemons scored a goal in regulation before the Lady Panthers fell 2-1 in double overtime in PKs.

Park Hill South bounced back with three consecutive victories, starting with a pair of games in the Blue Springs South Tournament. Blue Valley West was the first victim, losing 2-1 on April 15.

Clemons scored both the goals on the day, bringing in passes from Lily DiBernardo and Mackenzie Wright. The Lady Panthers had eight corner kicks compared to only one by their opponent.

Park Hill South won the tournament with a 2-0 win over Blue Springs South (7-3-1) on April 16. Once again, Clemons was responsible for both her team’s goals as Lauren Dittmer assisted one of them.

Dating back to the loss to Lee’s Summit, Clemons has scored all seven of Park Hill South’s goals in the last four games, which includes the 2-1 win over Liberty North (8-3) on April 18. Savanna Pittman and Grace Leak had assists on the night.

Park Hill South is four wins shy of surpassing 16 wins for the first time since 2012 with six games remaining in the regular season. Lee’s Summit North (8-3) will come to town on April 23 for the Lady Panthers next game.
