The Platte County Commission offered eight stormwater grants totaling more than $350,000 earlier this month.
At the Monday, May 4 administrative session, Director of Parks and Recreation Daniel Erickson presented the applications approved to receive funding through the county’s parks and recreation and stormwater sales tax.
Grants were offered to the Weatherby Lake Improvement Company’s Environmental Trust for $8,000; Lake Waukomis Association for $18,250; Village of Iatan for $141,315; City of Parkville for $106,820; City of Platte Woods for $36,715; Detroy Green II for $12,975; Sarah Schofield for $30,000; and to Scott and Stephanie Strawn for $17,192. The county is awarding $371,267 this year to help address storm water concerns.
According to Erickson, 11 applications were received from 10 different entities, including municipalities, non-profit organizations and more. The county’s stormwater committee reviewed the applications and recommended approval of eight projects.
