Suburban tennis roundup: Trojans blank Pirates

For the fourth year in a row, Park Hill picked up a win against Platte County on the tennis court.

The Trojans came to Platte City on Monday, Sept. 23 and blanked the Pirates, 9-0.

In singles play, Elise McFee won 8-4 against Karlee Chase at No. 1; Jada Ray won 8-3 against Sydney Bales at No. 2; Audrey Lynn won 8-4 against Annie Archibald at No. 4; Sanjana Kotha won 8-6 against Emma Murray at No. 5; Elizabeth Appel won 8-1 against Sophie Curtis at No. 5 singles and Grace Yu won 8-5 against Molly McBratney at No. 6 singles.

In doubles, McFee/Ray got an 8-1 win against Chase/Bales at No. 1. 

Lynn/Appel picked up an 8-2 victory facing Archibald/Murray and Kotha/Taleen Adjemian beat McBratney/Curtis.

Park Hill 5, Lee’s Summit West 4

The Trojans won the final three singles matches to pick up a victory on Thursday, Sept. 19 against the Titans.

Sanjana Kotha won 8-2 against Anne Garvey at No. 4 singles for Park Hill, while Taleen Adjemian posted an 8-3 win against Annaliese Flannagan at No. 6. In a close match, Elizabeth Appel won 8-5 against Alana Freeman at No. 5 singles.

That allowed the two Suburban Conference Gold Division schools to split singles.

In doubles, the team of Appel and Audrey Lynn won 9-7 at No. 2, while Kotha and Ajemian won 8-6 at No. 3 doubles.

Park Hill South 5, Liberty 4

The Panthers got a conference win by beating the visiting Blue Jays on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Park Hill South got doubles wins from Chloe Norris/Vivian Hamilton at No. 1 doubles and from Taylor Brown and Jacklynn Pham at No. 3 doubles.

In singles, Hamilton, Nicki Matthews and Pham all had wins for the Panthers.

Blue Springs South 8, Park Hill 1

The only win for the Trojans came at No. 1 singles on Tuesday, Sept. 17 in Suburban Conference Gold Division play.

Elise McFee picked up the victory for Park Hill, winning 10-6 against Francesca Klosener.

The Trojans lost three matches by a combined six points.

Platte County: The Pirates played on the road at Kearney on Tuesday, Sept. 24, but results weren’t available by press time. Platte County will travel to Grandview on Thursday, Sept. 26, then the Oak Park Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 28 and then to Liberty North on Monday, Sept. 30.

Park Hill: The Trojans went to Lee’s Summit North for a conference match on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Those results weren’t available by press time. The Trojans will also visit Blue Springs on Thursday, Sept. 26 and then play in the Oak Park Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 28. The Trojans travel to Park Hill South on Monday, Sept. 30 before hosting Ray-Pec on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Park Hill South: A road match at Liberty North on Tuesday, Sept. 24 kicked off the week for the Panthers. The team will then play Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Monday. A makeup date against St. Joseph Central is at home on Wednesday, Sept. 25 and then a match in Lee’s Summit on Thursday, Sept. 26. The Panthers will play in the Oak Park Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 28. The Panthers hosts Park Hill on Monday, Sept. 30 and then Truman on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
