West Platte tops North Platte in Kansas

North Platte and West Platte traveled to Shawnee, Kan., on Monday, Oct. 1 to play in a round-robin event with Maranatha Academy.

The two KCI Conference foes met up head-to-head with the Bluejays winning, 26-24 and 25-13.

North Platte received six digs and three assists from Maddy Cheadle, while Emily Westwood had four kills and one ace, tied for the team lead with Brianna Bridger.

Lexie Smith paced the Bluejays with seven kills, while Faith Stevens led in assists (13) and tied with the lead in digs with four with Lara Lieske. Tori Norman had four aces and had one block, as did Lieske for West Platte (16-4-2).

Maranatha 2, North Platte 0

The Eagles won in straight sets, 25-14 and 25-18 in the other game on Monday, Oct. 1 for North Platte.

McKenzie Brockhoff and Franke Davis had four kills each, while Davis added three digs — as did Brianna Bridger Maddy Cheadle had eight assists for North Platte, now 11-8.

Maranatha Academy 2, West Platte 0

The Eagles won 27-25 and 25-21 in their showdown with the Bluejays in the third game on Monday.

Lara Lieske had seven kills and Faith Stevens had six, while pacing the Bluejays with 13 assists. Lexie Smither had five digs, while five players had one block each for West Platte.

West Platte 2, Mid-Buchanan 0

The Blue Jays soared past the Dragons 25-20 and 25-12 in a KCI Conference tilt on Thursday, Sept. 27 in Weston, Mo.

Blue Jays senior Lara Lieske had seven kills, an ace, two blocks and four digs. Junior Tori Norman had seven aces, while classmate Faith Stevens contributed 11 assists and four digs.

North Platte 2, Lawson 1

The Panthers defeated Lawson in a KCI Conference match on Thursday, Sept. 27 in Dearborn, Mo.

North Platte won 25-18 in the first set, then fell 25-7 in the second. In the third, the Panthers won 25-16, moving to 2-1 in KCI play.

McKenzie Brockhoff had 11 kills and nine digs for the Panthers. Emily Westwood contributed three blocks and Maddy Cheadle had eight assists.

The win snapped a six-game losing skid against Lawson dating back to 2015.

Lone Jack 2, West Platte 1

The Blue Jays forced a third-set against the Mules and eventually captured a victory 16-25, 25-19 and 25-17 on Tuesday, Sept. 25 in Lone Jack, Mo

West Platte received four kills, six aces and four digs from junior Tori Norman. Senior Daire Stelljes had seven kills and five digs and junior Faith Stevens dished out 12 assists. Senior Lara Lieske had 12 digs, seven kills and three aces.

North Platte 2, Frontier School of Excellence 0

The Panthers roared past the Lady Falcons 25-5 and 25-7 for the sweep on Tuesday, Sept. 25 in Dearborn, Mo.

Panthers junior Frankie Davis had three kills, two assists and five aces pacing the Panthers’ attack. Sophomore Brianna Bridger and junior McKenzie Brockhoff contributed seven aces and two kills a piece.
