Body found near river identified

Authorities have finally determined the identity of the body found Sept. 12 along the banks of the Missouri River near Waldron in Southern Platte County. Last week, the Platte County Sheriff’s Department released that the body had been positively identified as that of Christopher M. Rielly, 35, of Leavenworth. Rielly’s fingerprints were used to confirm his identity. He had not been reported missing. Officials said the cause of death is still undetermined. Up until last week, all the Sheriff’s Dept. knew was that the body was that of a “white male in his 20s-30s” and that he had two tattoos on his lower back – one of a four-leaf clover on the lower right portion of his back and one with the letters “Ca” on the lower left portion of his back Officials said they were notified of the discovery of the body by a fisherman at approximately 10:30 a.m. Sept. 12 in some “rough terrain.”
