More than 400 alumni and guests gathered Saturday, Oct. 3, for the Platte County High School All-Class Reunion, capping a historic homecoming weekend that brought generations of Pirates together to celebrate the friendships, traditions, and memories that connect the Platte County School District community.
Held Oct. 2-4, the reunion offered alumni a special opportunity to return to Platte County High School (PCHS) and walk the halls of the original 1963 building before its planned deconstruction begins in January 2027 as part of the school’s ongoing rebuild project.

More than 300 alumni and guests participated in guided school tours Saturday morning, revisiting classrooms and hallways filled with memories of their school years as well as seeing the progress on the rebuild of PCHS. PCHS student volunteers assisted with the tours, helping welcome alumni back to campus and connecting current Pirates with the generations who came before them.
Following the tours, Saturday morning also featured “Chalk Talks” with former teachers, coaches, and activity sponsors (Phil Dorman, Joyce Hisel, Donna Hulett, Jan Patterson, Binny Pearce, Tom Morgan, Chip and Angie Sherman, and Bob and Susan Shier), providing opportunities for alumni to reconnect with the educators and mentors who influenced their journeys.
Saturday evening’s reunion celebration at the Platte County Fairgrounds brought more than 400 attendees together for dinner, entertainment, fellowship and shared memories.
Homecoming festivities on Friday included the annual parade through downtown Platte City and the Platte County Pirates football game against Raytown. Reserved seating welcomed alumni back to Pirate Stadium, and alumni were recognized during the game, including members of the Class of 1976, who returned to celebrate their 50th class reunion.
Class and decade gatherings throughout the weekend provided additional opportunities to reconnect. The weekend concluded Sunday with “Anchored in Faith,” an alumni worship service led by Pastor Brady Rogers, a 1989 graduate, at Platte City First Christian Church, followed by a potluck luncheon hosted by the congregation.
The All-School Reunion was organized by a volunteer reunion planning committee, with alumni from multiple graduating classes helping coordinate activities and create opportunities for Pirates of all ages to participate. The last All-School Reunion was held in 2010.
