Wilson busted with meth at KCI security screening

Paxton Wilson

A Springfield man was charged after trying to sneak methamphetamine onto a plane at Kansas City International Airport.

Paxton Wilson, 55, was charged with felony of possession of a controlled substance Tuesday, Jan. 21. Wilson was taken into custody that day and later posted a $2,500 bond. He was scheduled to appear in court this week.

According to court documents, Wilson entered a TSA checkpoint at KCI at around 6 a.m. Jan. 21. During the screening process, his bag was taken aside for a physical search. Officers found a box containing a razor blade and three small baggies containing a white substance. The substance tested positive for methamphetamine.

Wilson allegedly told police he had no idea the meth was inside his bag and didn’t know how it had gotten there. He said his wife had bought the bag at a garage sale and given it to him. When his wife was contacted she said she was familiar with the bag but did not buy it nor did she give it to her husband.

Wilson said his fingerprints nor his DNA should be on the items but when asked to provide a DNA swab sample he refused to do so without a court order.
